From the Wildest Catch Star Valleys to the Dancefloor
Raised deep within the Wildest Catch Star Valleys – the dreamlike echo of Wildervanksterdallen – Trish Thunderstone began sculpting sound long before there was a “studio.” It started on an Amiga 500 with OctaMED 4.0: crunchy samples, tracker patterns, endless curiosity and the thrill of making machines sing. Those pixelated nights of trial and error still pulse underneath every track.
Behind Trish is Ruben – an artist in heart and soul, driven by creativity in all its forms. Music, ideas, technology and visual worlds all feed into the same source of inspiration. Ruben loves combining these elements into something new: a place where circuits, emotions and imagination blend seamlessly. That urge to merge art, technique and feeling is the engine behind Trish Thunderstone.
Today, the sonic universe of Trish takes shape in Ableton Live 12. Here, Ruben builds hypnotic rhythms and shimmering textures that turn songs into journeys. Subtle sound design, evolving pads, deep grooves and tiny details in timing and tone all matter; a single reverb tail or filtered drum hit can change the story of a track. As a sound artist, Trish approaches music like sculpture or painting: shaping, carving, layering and listening until the piece “clicks” and reveals its own inner narrative.
The style floats between cinematic electronica, deep house, downtempo and ambient storytelling. Some tracks feel like slow-burning club moments; others are more like late-night headphone films. Always, there’s a sense of space: room to breathe, to dream, to get lost for a while. It’s music for quiet nights, neon cities, long train rides and small, private universes inside your headphones.
But Trish Thunderstone is never just one person alone in a room. Over time, the project has grown into Trish Thunderstone & Friends, a living network of session musicians and vocalists from all over the world. Bass players, drummers, string players, percussionists and voices from different cultures step into this universe, each adding their own textures and stories. Their contributions turn individual tracks into shared landscapes where electronic production and live performance blend into one breathing organism, making the music richer, more surprising, and full of details you can keep discovering with every listen.
At its core, Trish Thunderstone is about connection: between past and future, computers and humans, solitude and togetherness. From the Wildest Catch Star Valleys to Groningen city and out onto the dancefloor, Ruben invites you to step inside the sound, let the lights fade, and follow the trail of hypnotic rhythms and glimmering textures to wherever the music needs to go next.
